About BCDI - Atlanta Affiliate
BCDI - Atlanta acts as a clearinghouse and resource for the African American community in Georgia. Through leadership and advocacy, the Affiliate creates opportunities for our African cultural context to be the foundation for achieving excellence for our children today! At the heart of our work is a commitment to impact public policy and funding decisions, and to create sustainable systems locally, nationally and globally that enable all families and children to thrive.
BCDI-Atlanta implements community-outreach and service projects in two priority areas: Early Care and Learning and Youth Opportunities. The following are current projects:
-
Early Care and Learning
- Early Childhood Leadership Mentoring Project: focuses on mentoring child care owners and directors as a means to improve the quality of child care services in local communities. Program components include:
- training and technical assistance
- support for NAEYC accreditation
- after school programming
- early literacy
- family literacy
- Born Learning is a public awareness campaign to disseminate information through faith-based organizations that increases parents' understanding that their children are born learning.
