Born Learning
The Black Child Development Institute Atlanta Affiliate Implements a New Initiative Through Faith-Based Organizations
Highlights of the Initiative
The Black Child Development Institute (BCDI) Atlanta Affiliate launched a public awareness campaign to train faith-based lay leaders and disseminate information through faith-based organizations that would increase parents' understanding of the early education for their children.
The primary objectives of the initiative are to:
- Encourage parental self-sufficiency and advocacy for children
- Increase parent's knowledge of child development
- Raise confidence in parenting skills
- Facilitate parents' knowledge of family and other resources
BCDI Atlanta Affiliate provides the necessary resources and training to promote the Born Learning Initiative to participating faith-based communities.
The BCDI Atlanta Affiliate conducts Training of Trainers for faith-based community leaders to provide the opportunity of sustainability of effort beyond the duration of the initiative. By having trained lay leaders who are provided with support, training materials, and the opportunity to develop/expand a family project, faith-based communities can continue to implement Born Learning principles on a regular basis.
